Privacy / ownership

You own your data.

That is a design constraint, not a slogan. BassheadOS is a native iOS app. The core garage and the calculators do not need a vendor server to function.

Offline-first

Garage and Tools work with airplane mode on. Enclosure math, final impedance, power matching, Ohm’s law, wire gauge, and the tone generator run on-device. Coach still ranks moves through a deterministic rule engine when there is no network, no API key, or a rate limit.

Where inventory lives

User inventory lives in the user’s Private iCloud database via CloudKit. There is no third-party backend required for the core experience. The container is iCloud.com.bassheados.app. Settings show account availability and sync status, and you can trigger a sync yourself.

API keys

If you use Coach with a network model, the OpenRouter API key is stored in the iOS Keychain. It is never written to CloudKit. You can turn “Allow AI network” off and stay on the rule engine.

AI is optional

No key = rule engine. Offline = rule engine. When a key and a network exist, Coach can send an anonymized payload to the model you pick (default is a free/cheap Llama 3.3 70B, switchable in Settings).

Anonymized means: no serials, no UPCs, no owner notes. The model sees the system shape — goal, categories, electrical numbers, health — not the identity of the parts or the person.

Capture photos stay on-device until OCR text exists. Only that anonymized text can leave the phone.

What can be shared

System DNA is a fingerprint you can send through the system share sheet. Shared builds are keyed on that DNA. Your inventory never goes public unless you share DNA or a build. Community catalog browsing does not upload your garage.

Hardware

Registered hardware providers can write telemetry into your garage as measurements. Production ships a null radio. Debug ships a mock bench radio. Future Bluetooth DSPs, amps, and meters plug into the same rack. Connecting a radio is opt-in.

Brand-agnostic on purpose

Adding a DSP brand is a hardware plugin. It is not a rewrite of Garage, Coach, or Twin, and it is not a storefront. BassheadOS does not sell parts and does not rank brands as sponsors.

What we do not collect on this site

This marketing site is static. The beta form sends App name, phone OS, and email to admin@snapcollectibles.com so we can issue a tester invite. No analytics SDK is bundled.
